Lesson 3 – The Four Horsemen (part 3)

The German Empire 

• The Roman Empire began in 27 BC with Augustus and began to disintegrate after Theodosius I (last emperor to rule over both East and West) died in 395 AD. However, he made Christianity the official religion of the Empire. The Western Roman Empire lasted until 476 AD.
• The Western Roman Empire was not revived again until 800 AD when Pope Leo III crowned the Frankish (German) king Charlemagne as Emperor, reviving the title in Western Europe after more than three centuries. The German kings ruled over the Holy Roman Empire for one thousand years until Napoleon (France) defeated Emperor Francis II and Francis II dissolved the empire in 1806 AD.
• The Second German Empire, also referred to as the German Reich or Realm, was created from the unification of Germany in 1871. It lasted until the abdication of Kaiser Wilhelm II in November 1918 after World War I.
• Nazi Germany or the Third Reich are common names for the period of history in Germany from 1933 to 1945. It was controlled by the dictator Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party. It was finally dissolved after World War II.
•  In the first three German Reich's, France was always a major enemy, but in 1957, Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and West Germany signed the Treaty of Rome, which created the European Economic Community (EEC), later to become the European Union (EU). After 1990, former East Germany became part of the Community as part of a reunited Germany which is now the largest EU member.

Week Three Summary

·       Major military kingdoms today were identified with the symbols of beasts described in Daniel chapter 7.

o   Lion with Eagle Wings (UK with USA)

o   Bear (Russia)

o   Leopard with four heads and four wings of a bird (EU).

·       The three beasts described in Daniel were correlated with the horses and the first three Seals in Revelation chapter 6.

o   The first Seal was opened and the conquerors (UK and US) of World War II are identified.  The conquerors brought about the formation of Israel as a nation and initiated the final end time events.

o   The second Seal was opened and the Soviet Union (aka-Russia) acquired powerful nuclear weapons.

o   The third Seal was opened and Europe formed the world's most powerful economic union (EU).

·       The forth Seal was opened and identified as Islam.  Muslim groups and nations are still producing terror over ¼ the earth.
